Scanned from a Xerox multifunction device001Volunteers in the City of Cortland Fire Department serve in many diverse roles, and use their talents in many aspects of fire department activities. Their commitment to serving the community is what binds the membership, which is comprised of individuals of all ages, experiences and backgrounds. What is Zoning

A zoning law is a community’s guide to its future development.  It protects residents within a community from undesirable development. Zoning laws are pre-set regulations contained in an ordinance or local law and they are applied uniformly within each district. Sign permits are issued through this section. A property owner can determine which district they are in and regulations in which to follow.  A property owner has the right to use his land a certain way and each neighboring property in the same district is subject to the same rules.  However, because no two parcels of land are the same, problems do arise.

The following are applications for Zoning:

¨       Sign Permit

¨       Zoning Appeals Form

¨       Application for a Use Variance

¨       Application for an Area Variance

¨       Historic District Application Guidelines

¨       Historic Review Application

¨       Site Plan Review Application

¨       Certificate of Zoning Occupancy Application

¨       Special Use Permit Application
