Cortland Fire Department has instructors available for American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and First Aid classes at your workplace, school, civic or youth group. Courses are also hosted twice a year at the Armory Building at 25 Wheeler Ave. These courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training. CPR is a means to save heart muscle until a cardiac arrest victim can get to advanced care. Cortland Fire Department also provides Healthcare Provider-level BLS CPR for agencies needing more advanced coursework. Basic First Aid and CPR Courses are $40.00 per course. Call for quotes on other courses.

First Aid starts at 8:30 am ending at 12:30 pm and CPR starts at 1:00 pm ending at 5:00 pm

The ASHI Basic First Aid course helps students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. This first aid training program is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid.
Intended for individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire, or are required, to be certified in basic emergency medical care.
ASHI's CPR and AED training course is designed specifically for laypeople, and is an excellent choice for CPR and defibrillator training in both community and workplace settings. This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and choking incidents. This CPR and AED course conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.
CPR is the second most important link in the chain of survival for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The first is the recognition that a person is in trouble. Even if you don’t take a course, learning to recognize the signs of an emergency can save a life. American Heart Association has information at their website to learn about heart attack, stroke and many other life threatening emergencies.
